Bulgaria: Gas supply safety study (2010-2013)

The project aims to help the Government of Bulgaria to identify the cost-effective and technically feasible policy mix to ensure the Bulgarian gas market can meet final contracted demand in view of Bulgaria’s vulnerability to gas supply disruptions and its increasingly important role for regional gas cross-border transmission and trade.

The project is being developed and funded by the World Bank.

As a subcontractor of ECA, UK, the company is responsible for the coordination of local communications with Bulgarian stakeholders – the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, Bulgarian Energy Holding, Bulgartransgas and Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, as well as for the collection of data, review and analysis of information. The main task of the project is risk assessment and determination of the appropriate level of security of gas supply and assessment of cost effectiveness and associated trade effects of the proposed infrastructure projects and other policies to meet the desired security level of supplies in short and medium terms.
